Century Furniture: "Washington DC Style"

Recent travels have brought us to our nation's capital and a visit to the Century Furniture Showroom in Washington DC. Nestled among monuments and museums, the Washington Designer Center is a great resource for designers (and the public, as the design center allows browsing and has a "Entree-Access to Design" service that can facilitate buying)and our showroom is a beautiful showplace of all "things Century".

Centrally located on 300 D Street SW the design center is convenient to the metro as well as both Union Station Train Station and Regan National Airport. There is a public garage located in the center and an array of coffee shops and restaurants for those wanting to make it a day trip for design!

Our showroom is located on the 6th floor and features an assortment of Century collections in all our categories: upholstery, casegoods, outdoor, textiles and accessories (including lamps, mirrors, artwork). In addition to Century product we also carry more accessory-type lines from other manufacturers - one of a kind pieces, rugs and many more accessories. Everything you need for a stunning home!

Our display and assortment is constantly evolving as we bring in new exciting product. I thought I would share some photographs for your enjoyment and inspiration!

(A chest from our new Tribeca Collection.)

(A graceful china from the Wellington Court collection, flanked by two arm chairs from the Oscar de la Renta collection.)

(Our 1000 Series sectional - a versatile collection and this is a great configuration.)

(An accent piece, barnacle vase, love how it serves as a fresh way to display flower buds!)

(Blue & white porcelain - one of the most chic, timeless accessory stories!)

(Just one setting of our outdoor collection - inside or out, you decide ....)

(A very sophisticated black, gold and tan classical room.)

(And the coordinating sofa, very elegant.)

(Oscar de la Renta for Century Furniture, my personal favorite: our Mother-of-Pearl Bunching Cocktail Tables.)

(A soothing and sophisticated bedroom featuring our Wellington Court Poster Bed.)

(A pretty nook with a traditional, damask settee.)

(The designer work area holds all necessary sample references and options; also provides a quiet corner for inspiration.)

Every Room Needs a Bit of Sparkle!

Many thanks to Katie Lydon, Robert Stilin and the editors at Elle Decor for selecting our Grand Tour Chairside Table #SF5042 as one of "The Top 10 Mirrored Furnishings" in the October 2010 Elle Decor's Guide to ....

J'Adore Miles Redd

(Credit: House Beautiful October 2010 Produced by Orli Ben-Dor)
I know some people are Francophiles, but I am a Milesophile! I absolutely am in awe of Miles Redd's creations. In this month's House Beautiful issue (loved the October issue of House Beautiful!), he has created a "dream room" embodying the Oscar de la Renta design aesthetic and using his new line of fabrics. J'adore!
I love that our Manhattan Room Divider used in this spectacular room!!

Century Furniture Wins the Luxist Awards Readers' Choice Award for Best Outdoor Furniture

We are THRILLED to have received the "Reader's Choice Award for Best Outdoor Furniture" from Luxist.com. If you are not familiar with the website, I recommend taking a moment to indulge. And I do mean indulge because this website really features the best-of-the-best in fine living: from gourmet cooking sauces to 5-star hotels, reviewing brands from Cadillac to Marc Jacobs.

The best part of this award is that it was reader nominated and voted on - so thank you!

Take a moment to look at Celebrity Shopping, "10 of the Most Expensive Celebrity Homes on the Market". I am thinking Billy Joel's home in Sagaponeck could use a few of our Punta Cana chaise lounge chairs #60-D10-71 (pictured above)! To see all of our outdoor collections, including those designed by Oscar de la Renta and Richard Frinier, visit Century Furniture.com/leisure.

Oscar de la Renta Home

September 1st, and with the turn of the calendar page I find myself welcoming a new season; the crisp days of Fall call for richer colors and luxurious textures - both in fashion and home design. I can think of no better synergy between the two than Oscar de la Renta's home collections. And I am just LOVING Miles Redd's (Creative Director for Oscar de la Renta Home) new installation at the Lee Jofa showroom in the D&D Building.

(Shown above our Tiered Chairside Table #609-639 in Jet finish - perfect as a bedside table. Also our Pagoda Dining Chair #60-3592 in Chalk White sits at the foot of the bed.)

This display heralds the launch of Oscar de la Renta's fabric collection for Lee Jofa, the latest of his home offerings which includes our furniture (featured prominently in these pictures). Sumptuous satins, rich crewels, exotic ikat patterns and saturated color make this simply a room 'to die for'!

(The "X" Book Shelf #609-777 in Jet high gloss enamel in the background holds a collection of art books; also serves well as a room divider and entertainment center.)

(At left, a Pagoda Dining Chair #60-3592 in Chalk White. In the background the Manhattan Room Divider #609-801 acts as a stand for the artwork.)

(A Brass Gallery Accessory Table #60G-630 sits next to the sofa arm)

(Regal Fluted Pedestals #609-718 in Distressed Mahogany flank the mantel. A Cigarette Table #60D-625M next to the chair provides a spot to set a drink. My favorite piece in the entire room is the Tortoise Parchment & Brass Cocktail Table #60T-611.)

Since the picture above does not do the cocktail table justice, I thought I would include a silhouette shot from our website.
Tres chic!!
