Before and After--A Custom Story

One of the most exciting things to see coming through our factory is a piece of furniture that has been completely customized. Our talented craftspeople work weekly on requests from customers to make items taller, wider, shorter or longer. They remove doors, add doors, change veneer patterns--you name it our team has probably done it. From the inital request through to the finished piece, these projects are some of the most challenging things we do, but also extremely rewarding and the end results are simply stunning.

Shown here is our in line Milan Dining Room table, 849-303, with soft bronze base. A gorgeous table, it features a satin walnut veneer top which can be finished in any of our 50+ finishes. The base can be requested in soft silver or bronze as shown. The standard size shown here is 88"w, 42"d, 30.25"h with one 22" leaf.
Now here is where it gets fun! Shown below is a customized version of this table coming through our plant at 212" long. Being used as a conference table, the cut outs in the top are for AV Boxes that the customers' techinicians were installing once the table arrived. You tell me how you can see this in the plant and not be excited!
And the finished version is just that much more beautiful.
As you can see there is no end to what our artisans can do. As we like to say, "If you can dream it, and draw it--then we can probably make it." Afterall, a home is personal and we take furniture personally.

High Point Furniture Market- Introducing The Tribeca Collection

The world is not the same place. With the rise in and expectation of constant communication via blackberries, iPhones and social media we are living in a new and often times stressful world. This era of “always on” has lead to the rise of luxury resorts and vacation villas that are wireless free, literally no connections allowed. It seems we do need our downtime, our sanctuaries and respites from the pushes and pulls in order to recharge and recenter.

“Today more than ever people want their home to be a retreat, a place away from the ringing and buzzing,” says Comer Wear, Director of Marketing for Century Furniture. “Where we used to see homes built as showcases, the focus now is smaller more personal spaces where one can escape.” With its style rooted in serenity and sophistication, Century Furniture’s newest collection, Tribeca, brings this sentiment to life. The collection featuring thirty pieces of bedroom, dining and occasional debuts this spring at the International Home Furnishings Market in High Point, NC. Named after the exclusive and historic residential neighborhood in New York, the Tribeca collection is Century’s interpretation of today’s new social consciousness. Opulence and showy wealth have fallen out of fashion at the same time as our world has become hyper connected and chaotic. This perfect storm inspired Tribeca—a collection of modern sophistication, where designs are pure and sculptural and noted just as much for their refrain as for their subtleties in detail.

Graceful simplified design sensibilities are married with beautiful American walnut, the best time-honored craftsmanship and then enhanced with a rich soft hand rubbed finish. The cases are crafted of maple solids and quarter cut American Walnut straight grain veneers. American Walnut, selected for its minimal, controlled grain patterns, enhances the simplicity of each piece. The primary finish, Tribeca, is a clear warm brown with a clarity only achieved through a multi-step process performed by artisans of unparalleled skill. The jewelry, soft hammered silver, accentuates but does not distract. Each piece of Tribeca is a lesson in controlled design.
