Market to Market Journey: Phase Four

We are rocking and rolling setting up the showroom in High Point! With just a few days to go, this place is coming together quickly!! We have been unloading trucks, propping, staging, laying rugs, cleaning, changing light bulbs... you name it! It takes a lot of man power and energy to set up this big showroom!

We have had trucks coming from Hickory almost daily, sometimes 2 or 3 in one day!

With the new pieces coming in, each space gets a little bit cramped, until it is set up.

We're so thankful for our team of hard working guys who move furniture for us all day long! They set up beds, tables, lay rugs... it's a lot of hard work!

We have about 80 rugs in this showroom...and those things are heavy!

With furniture in place, we get the creative juices flowing and start propping them with accessories. We have a lot of  blue going on here! Accessories help to pull out the colors in the spaces.

Some of the designers at work...
Here is Angelia contemplating her space. It is looking good!

Julie is mastering this cabinet and hanging artwork. It is looking very pretty!

Each bookcase and cabinet is like a composition to be balanced. Lots of different style props are used to create just the perfect look!

Come to the Century Showroom in Market Square to see it all finished!!

AD July 2011: "Effortless Elegance"

I am loving Architectural Digest's July 2011 issue. And who wouldn't with Elizabeth Taylor on the cover? Also I was so excited to see Genevieve Faure's project in the Dominican Republic and our Oscar de la Renta Trellis Chair (Duccio the dog's favorite perch)! What a beautiful room and home.

Loving the chair too and looking to buy one? I can help you out with that, visit our website CenturyFurniture.com for a local showroom or retailer.

TradHome

Don't miss the inaugural issue of TradHome, the newest digital magazine brought to life by the editors of Traditional Home and Lonny Magazine. Its spectacular - what an exciting assortment of homes, products and super talented individuals!!

I was so happy to see one of my all time favs - Nick Olsen featured in the "In Love with Louis" story and even more thrilled to see he used our Oscar de la Renta Tiered Chairside Table #609-639 in his look.

I do love the technology that allows you to click on items of interest and be brought to the vendor or retailer's website for more information or even to purchase. How much easier can it be?!

For more on Century's Oscar de la Renta collection or any of our collections please visit our website CenturyFurniture.com. For more on Nick Olsen please visit his blog NickOlsenStyle.blogspot.com.

Century Furniture: "New York City Style"

Next stop on our tour across the country of the Century Furniture showrooms - New York City.

One of our biggest challenges in the showrooms is how to show the vast and diverse line of products within a limited amount of space. Here in New York, the showroom is just over 5,600 square feet, so there's no way we can show everything. Instead what we do is use the showroom to spotlight new products, our designer introductions and create displays that speak towards the newest in fashion and design trends.

Since we sell everything off the floor at anytime in all our showrooms (hello, immediate gratification) it gives us the chance to continually change the product mix and displays!

And so here's just a taste of the latest, exciting installations we have here in New York .....

(The showroom is located at 200 Lexington Avenue, also called the New York Design Center. )

(This is the view from outside the showroom looking over the atrium and into our windows. You can see in the background a special installation by Juan Montoya ... more on that to come in future blogs.)

(The front entrance features an installation of the newest Oscar de la Renta products. Tres chic!)

(I just die for this little tufted chair and the leopard spotted Tibetan rug by Elson for Oscar de la Renta.)

(More of the Elson for Oscar de la Renta rugs.)

(A beautiful, canopy bed dressed with Dransfield & Ross hand-painted bedding. J'adore!!)

(A pretty, Swedish bedside chest.)

(Looking into the "Garden Room".)

(Two Andalusia Royal Lounge outdoor chairs flank a blue & white floor vase.)

(A Punta Cana Lounge Chair looks terrific paired with blue & white vase and ikat pillows.)

(How great does this Tribeca chest look when paired with pink and crystal accents?!)

(Walking further into the showroom: a mirrored chest and the decorative back of the Venetian sofa.)

(An upholstered bed done in a crewel from Textures Silk dressed with Dransfield and Ross bedding and decorative pillows.)

(A custom table! We took our New Traditional bunching cocktail added an antique mirror top and finished it in a cerulean blue. It was done to match Benjamin & Moore's Galapogos Turquoise #2057-20. We can color match any paint selection and most wood stains.)

(A Wellington Court china cabinet custom finished in "Cream" high-sheen paint with an Oscar de la Renta Shell Bench.)

(Just a little glamour - delft velvet, ostrich feathers and the Omni Mirrored Chest.)

(A modern sectional in oatmeal-colored ultrasuede.)

(The Omni dining table with Milan dining chairs.)

(I love this cocktail ottoman with removable mirrored tray. It would work equally as well at the foot of a bed.)

(The designer work station.)

(Some pieces from our Grand Tour collection.)

(Everyone loves these "Wings", wooden relics which stand almost 7' high.)

(Same goes for this crystal bowl of bejeweled shells.)

(A Tuscan feeling roomset.)

(More "old world" style: Venetian mirrors, fossilized shells and suzani pillows.)

(Our Barcelona carved console.)

(The back of the showroom - great scale and design for a NYC apartment!)

J'Adore Miles Redd

(Credit: House Beautiful October 2010 Produced by Orli Ben-Dor)
I know some people are Francophiles, but I am a Milesophile! I absolutely am in awe of Miles Redd's creations. In this month's House Beautiful issue (loved the October issue of House Beautiful!), he has created a "dream room" embodying the Oscar de la Renta design aesthetic and using his new line of fabrics. J'adore!
I love that our Manhattan Room Divider used in this spectacular room!!

Century Furniture Wins the Luxist Awards Readers' Choice Award for Best Outdoor Furniture

We are THRILLED to have received the "Reader's Choice Award for Best Outdoor Furniture" from Luxist.com. If you are not familiar with the website, I recommend taking a moment to indulge. And I do mean indulge because this website really features the best-of-the-best in fine living: from gourmet cooking sauces to 5-star hotels, reviewing brands from Cadillac to Marc Jacobs.

The best part of this award is that it was reader nominated and voted on - so thank you!

Take a moment to look at Celebrity Shopping, "10 of the Most Expensive Celebrity Homes on the Market". I am thinking Billy Joel's home in Sagaponeck could use a few of our Punta Cana chaise lounge chairs #60-D10-71 (pictured above)! To see all of our outdoor collections, including those designed by Oscar de la Renta and Richard Frinier, visit Century Furniture.com/leisure.

Market Highlights--Part 1, the entrance

April 2010 High Point Furniture Market just wrapped up. Whew! What a great week! It is always exciting to welcome old friends and customers as well as first time customers and buyers into our showroom and be able to show what Century Furniture offers.

This market our creative team pulled together some of our most inspiring rooms yet. Here are just a few highlights from our entrance:

Tangerine, Turquoise, Fern Green- oh my!
Bold, confident and fun our entrance set the tone for our April 2010 Market.

Sapphire walls add an air of sophistication and elegance to these poppy and playful colors.

in our new Tangerine finish
were just incredible!

New Oscar de la Renta Tufted Sofa in a tangerine velvet facing
two upholstered ottomans
in a lime green Ultraseude fabric.

Oscar de la Renta's new Tiered Chairside Tables in a new Turquoise finish were used as bedside tables. Love the Chinese red lion accent against the Turquoise finish!

Finally, new Fern green finish on our New Traditional starburst mirror hanging above the Oscar de la Renta X bookshelf.

Thank you to everyone who posted comments about our showroom this market. Our creative team works extremely hard to pull together something that will excite, re-energize and inspire!
More to come from our showroom designs.....
