It's Monday.. the most dreaded day of the work week.  You've just traversed your way through traffic to your office, downed your first cup of coffee, listened to your co-workers weekend stories, turned on your computer, and are about to start tackling email.  Prepared for the onslaught of to-dos and weekly meetings.

We feel ya. At Century we're feeling blue too, but our blues aren't something you want to chase away. In fact, our blues are rather uplifting. They may inspire. They sure as heck will beat that next email you are about to open.

October Market Highlights

This market marked the first time in thirty years that Century Furniture has had a new showroom space at the High Point International Furniture Market.  Prior to this, the only move we have ever made for market was to move from showing in Hickory, NC to showing in High Point.  Not only was it a new showroom, it was also temporary, a one market wonder, as we await the completion of our new permanent home at 200 Steele.

Outfitting a brand new showroom for one market is crazy, but in true Century fashion our team created an incredible display of our product.  This new showroom gave everyone an opportunity to see our furniture in a different light. And it was a hit! We had a fabulous market celebrating our new Thomas O'Brien outdoor collection, our new casegoods collection Bowery Place, our Details Dining program, as well as a quick ship dining chair program.

For those who were unable to make it down to High Point, we wanted to share some highlights!

Thomas O'Brien Outdoor for Century features a mixture of woven and metal materials.
Bowery Place Collection crafted of solid oak and oak veneers
Monarch Collection introduced new pieces including a mix of concrete, painted onyx glass accents, and shagreen.
Windsor Smith for Century Collection won a Pinnacle Award for Best Major Collection
at the ASFD Oct 2017 Pinnacle Awards!

This mixed pattern room showcases Details Dining and Details Chest programs.

Our New Details Custom Chest Collection

It's all in the details, and Century's newest collection by the same name, is about exactly that. You get to choose the details that go into making your furniture. We have created this configurable casegoods collection to give you options when creating your furniture.  All built in our factory in North Carolina, Details promises personalization made with Century's uncompromising construction standards and quality, and made quickly. Just for you.

You choose your case size and style (drawers or doors), decide how you want the drawer/door front to look, select from a range of base/leg styles, add your choice of hardware and decide its finish and placement, and then select your stain or paint finish. Designed by you, Made by Century. The possibilities are endless!

Here is an example of one chest and how differently you can style it!

Welcome to Details by Century

As Century breaks ground on our new showroom in High Point, what better way to share this exciting change than through a blog. It is no coincidence that this blog is being created during Century’s time of transformation, growth, and excitement. There is no better way to share our story.

Workers on site to break ground on our new
High Point Showroom space which will be located at 200 Steele.

When people think of furniture, they think of the pristine, finished pieces they see in magazines, retail stores, showrooms, or while cruising furniture market. Most of us do not see past the finished product and do not even entertain what it takes to get to that point. There is little comprehension about what it takes to design and make furniture or how much passion and narrative is involved in each and every piece.  We want to change that.

We know that every piece of furniture we make is going into someone’s home, to live amongst those they hold closest to their hearts.  Home is very personal, and we take the art of making furniture personally.  We want our customers to know the true romance of making their furniture. The untold story of manufacturing furniture, the art of making, creating and designing, is the drive for the creation of this blog, Details by Century.

Because each one of our team members shares the same passion and love for furniture, all members of the Century team will bring their expertise and knowledge to this blog. Our interior designers, experts on casegoods and outdoors, even our CEO will be involved. After all, Century is one big family.

From our factory to furniture market, to design 101 and designer features, we want to give you a glimpse of what goes on behind the scenes and what it takes to make truly custom hand crafted furniture, what goes into the Details.
